Today is Random Acts of Kindness Day and we thought this was the perfect opportunity to talk about the importance of being kind!

If you've spent any time on Facebook or Reddit, you know that it's easy to be in a bad mood because of the never-ending stream of negativity and vitriol in your newsfeed. It can really make you forget the kindness and love that is out there in the world.
We wanted to come up with a way to get you back into a positive spirit, especially for Random Acts of Kindness Day .Studies have shown over and over again why helping others may be one of the best things you can do for yourself and your health.
Kindness has been shown to:
Improve your mood and reduce stress
Increase your oxygen intake, which helps both your body and brain function better
Decrease blood pressure
Make you happier
Strengthen your immune system against colds
There is a significant amount of scientific research that shows acts of kindness you bestow on someone do have neuroendocrine changes in the body, which ultimately impact your overall health and skin cells meaning that being kind can not only improve your internal beauty but also your external beauty!

Truly, there are so many ways that small acts of kindness can improve your overall health that we can't even list them all here! However, we encourage you to read over some studies yourself to learn more about how being nice to others has both immediate and long-term benefits for your health. We've listed a few at the end of this article to get you started!
It's also important to remember that people perform kind acts every day without getting credit or thanks for what they're doing - hence, the name of this very special holiday, "Random Acts of Kindness Day."

Today, we encourage you to go out into the world and do one small thing for someone else. It can be paying for the person behind you in line, helping an old woman with her groceries, or anything else that makes someone smile. Let us know what you did on Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook so that we can share in the love!
So get out there and spread some kindness to the world. And if someone does something nice for you, pay it forward too!
We hope you have a Happy Random Acts of Kindness Day!
